Technician Guidebook for Buses and Accessible Vehicles
Regulation 611 under the HTA was amended July 1, 2011 to adopt the National Safety Code Standard for periodic motor vehicle safety inspections (PMVI) including annual and semi-annual safety inspections and Safety Standard Certificates for buses, school purposes vehicles and accessible vehicles. By July 1, 2013 all annual, semi-annual and safety standard certificate (SSC) inspections conducted by Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations must be done to the National Standard. Many stations are already switching over to the new standard which most technicians will find easier to use.
This 92-page guidebook provides a comprehensive explanation of the new PMVI standard. It provides detailed description of how each component or system is to be inspected and what constitutes a “pass” or “reject” condition. The book also includes the National Safety Code Standard 11B, reproduced with the consent of CCMTA. Technicians doing PMVI annual and semi-annual bus inspections and SSC’s have long asked for an authoritative, simple to use guidebook to ensure inspections are done consistently and in accordance with the regulations – now we have it!
