MTO – Medical Review and Driver Control Section

Representatives from MTO’s Driver Improvement Office will describe their operations in regard to the medical review and driver control sections. Find out how driver medical reports are processed and what triggers various Ministry responses. Other topics include driver suspensions, reinstatements and the demerit point system and how they are applied to a driver record.
Coach Operator Forum and G8 Summit – Integrated Security Unit

The G8 Summit will take place in Huntsville, ON in June 2010. Representatives of the
Integrated Security Unit will provide coach operators with an overview of security and coach transportation issues that will affect operators involved in the event or travelling anywhere in the Huntsville area. If time permits following the G8 Summit discussions, coach operators can discuss current issues and concerns facing our industry today.

US DOT – Roadside Motor Coach Inspections
(Tuesday 9:00 – 10:00 am)
Senior staff with the US Federal Motor Carrier Administration will present the results of their Passenger Carrier Strike Force activities and Operation Safe Student roadside inspection blitzes. Learn about the most common vehicle, paperwork or driver defects that can lead to out-of-service orders and fines for coaches travelling in the USA.
Transport Canada Update – Motor Coach Crash Testing Research
(Tuesday 10:15 am – 11:30 am)
Transport Canada’s Director of Crashworthiness Testing, Suzanne Tylko, will provide an update on the progress of crash testing research. Transport Canada’s coach crash test research responds to industry requests for a seat belt standard to be developed by government to guide the industry in this area, for both new and existing coaches. Ms. Tylko will discuss the various tests designed to analyze how test dummies of various sizes and with different restraint types react in a crash, which will hopefully lead to a standard the industry will be able to live with.
