Shelley Brown is a Toronto lawyer whose practice focuses exclusively on employment and related human rights law, with one of his areas of expertise being the legalization of cannabis. He is a Senior Associate with Steinberg, Title, Hope and Israel LLP. Before joining the firm, Shelley worked for The Prudential Insurance Company of America where he was in-house counsel and later appointed as Director of Human Resources and Ethics Officer. Shelley’s extensive experience and knowledge includes expertise in a wide range of employment issues including human rights, wrongful and constructive dismissal, restrictive covenants, just cause and non-solicitation agreements.
Mike “Ace” McCarron is a graduate of the University of Toronto, a 37 year industry leader, entrepreneur and founder of MSM Transportation (est. 1990) which was sold to the Wheels Group in November 2012.
Under Mike’s leadership, MSM won numerous business awards including the Top Canadian Motor Carrier, (7 years) Canada’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies, (5 years) and Canada’s 50 Best Managed Private Companies. (17 years). Mike is currently the President of Left Lane Associates and the Chairman of Trucking HR Canada.
Annie Sovcik will be on stage Monday at noon in the meal room. She is the Program Director for Busing on the Lookout (BOTL), a new initiative of Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT). Annie came to TAT in 2018 with over 12 years of experience as a human rights lawyer, working on anti-human trafficking, anti-torture, and refugee protection policies at a national and international level. Prior to joining TAT, Annie was the director of the Washington D.C. office of the Center for Victims of Torture and has worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Human Rights First, and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.
Chris and a team of exceptional developers started building a cloud-based benchmarking platform in 2014, this platform – StakUp was formally launched in 2015. StakUp now boasts exclusive partnerships with Industry associations throughout North America. StakUp provides the platform and business support services for OMCA’s new benchmarking intiative.
Mr. Pierre-Olivier Ménard Dumas’s practice is focused on transportation law and he is involved in all aspects of surface transportation law including commercial, penal and regulatory litigation as well as in the contractual aspects of the transportation of freight and passengers.
As CEO he is responsible for the Association’s day-to-day operations, in addition to his role at ABA, he also serves as President of the National Bus Traffic Association and of the ABA Foundation. Peter has nearly 40 years of experience in association work, at all levels. Prior to joining ABA, Peter directed the government and regulatory affairs efforts at the Rubber Manufacturers Association and the National Confectioners Association and was a regional state lobbyist for the Glass Packaging Institute, all based in Washington. He began his career working in the Pennsylvania State Senate, then at Brockway Glass in Pennsylvania. Under Peter’s leadership, the ABA has grown to become North America’s leading and largest motorcoach, tour and travel association, representing 3,800 members and 65 percent of all motorcoaches on the roads.
Camilla Morris has worked in the motorcoach industry for 29 years and is currently the Manager of the new division of Hale Transportation located in Oneonta, New York. Hale Transportation is a privately owned charter motorcoach company with a main office in Clinton, New York. Cam serves on the American Bus Association Board of Directors, has had the privilege to be an ABA Marketplace Chairperson and was instrumental in the formation of the Women In Buses Council. She also is honored to serve as President of BANY – the Bus Association of New York. Locally she is an officer on the Board of Directors for the Destination Marketing Corporation of Otsego County and a Director for the Oneonta Business Woman’s Club
Inna brings over 20 years of progressive experience in Global Human Resources Management and Administration in manufacturing, non-for-profit and public service organizations. Backed by strong generalist acumen, Inna’s areas of expertise include all functional competencies of HR, and particularly Recruitment & Selection, Health & Safety, Compensation & Benefits, Policies & Procedures. In her current role of Corporate HR Manager at A V Gauge & Fixture Inc. Inna oversees legal compliance and leads various HR programs for over 300 company’s employees worldwide spread across five domestic and two international facilities. Inna also holds an advisory role in the Strategic Management processes of the company.
Doug has been with OMCA and Motor Coach Canada since July 2011. OMCA and MCC are among the largest travel and tourism-related associations in Canada. Prior to joining the association, Doug spent eleven years with the Ontario Trucking Association; before that, he had over 16 years’ experience working in government at both the federal and provincial levels.
