2021 OMCA Marketplace

Like many of our members, OMCA cannot wait for the return of meetings and events and are eager to see our members face-to-face! Unfortunately, there are still a great deal of unknowns that we must navigate before we know what our face-to-face event will look like.

Our first step in eliminating some unknowns was to survey our members and delegates to find out more about how they plan to participate in the OMCA Marketplace.

What we heard from members:

OMCA sent out a survey on May 17th to get input from the members and gathered data from sellers, buyers, coach operators and sponsors regarding willingness to attend, budget to attend, and preference of in-person or virtual event.

The survey’s results show that most members are looking forward to participating in Marketplace 2021 whether it is in-person or virtual (59%), while some will attend only if it is in person (9%) or if it is virtual (14.5%), with the rest undecided (17.5%). However, most respondents indicated having a modest budget to participate and many do not have the travel budget to attend in person, which is understandable given the tourism economy. Data also indicated that staffing and resources may be challenging for many.

What is the plan for the 2021 Marketplace?

OMCA is taking a hybrid approach to the 2021 Marketplace. The B2B appointments at the OMCA Marketplace are the most important factor for members and we want to be sure that nothing is holding them back from participating in one-on-one opportunities. For that reason, the OMCA appointments will be virtual again this year.

This does not mean that the entire event will be virtual, it simply keeps the doors open for all appointment-taking delegates to participate, regardless of limitations caused by covid restrictions, tight budgets or any unforeseen challenges.

What do you mean by ‘hybrid’?

In addition to the virtual appointments, we are planning a day of sessions and socials for members who are able to join us in Toronto, ON on Wednesday, November 3rd.

Now that Ontario is on a strong path to reopening, we are working hard to confirm the content that will be available on November 3rd. The OMCA team are working hard to make the reunion of our members the best that it can possibly be!
