A Message From TIAO

Ontario’s tourism industry continues to build momentum filled with international attention, industry collaboration, and opportunities to celebrate excellence. From global sporting events to major marketplaces and gatherings, tourism is playing an increasingly important role in Ontario’s economy.

As the industry grows, a strong and unified voice is essential to ensure tourism operators are represented where decisions are being made.

TIAO continues to advocate on behalf of tourism businesses across Ontario on key issues, including:

  • Advocating for amendments to O. Reg. 435/17 related to the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) to better support destination development, tourism growth, and local economic priorities.
  • Supporting Colleges Ontario’s call for Colleges, Tourism, Hospitality (CTH) stabilization funding.
  • Supporting Bill 97 initiatives that would enable ridesharing services in Northern Ontario, improving access and mobility for residents and visitors.
  • Advocating for tourism operators to be included in route consultations for the Alto High-Speed Rail project.
  • Calling for enhancements to Northern Ontario air service and transportation infrastructure.
