Dear Members,
As we approach the midpoint of 2025, I am pleased to share key developments from the Ontario Motor Coach Association and Motor Coach Canada.
Advocacy on Tariffs
OMCA and MCC, in collaboration with the American Bus Association (ABA), the United Motorcoach Association (UMA) and our Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), continue to advocate against the imposition of retaliatory tariffs on buses and motor coach parts. We have urged the federal government to exclude these critical items from the tariff list, emphasizing the potential negative impact on our industry. Our efforts include encouraging members to participate in the government’s consultation process to voice their concerns. Thank you to all of you who participated. Our partnership with ABA and UMA remains strong. Together, we are addressing cross-border challenges, including tariffs, and working on initiatives like the Travel Unity workforce development pilot to promote inclusivity and equitable opportunities within the industry. Recently, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, through GC Business Insights: Canada’s response to U.S. tariffs, outlined tools and resources for businesses navigating the ins and outs of tariffs.
Engagement with Political Leaders
We were encouraged by visits during the election campaign from the Liberal Party leader (now our Prime Minister) to key manufacturing facilities, including MCI in Winnipeg and Nova Bus in Montreal. These visits underscore the importance of our industry to the national economy and provide opportunities to highlight our concerns and priorities.
OMCA will be holding an advocacy day at Queen’s Park on June 2nd to advocate for members directly with the Ontario government.
Successful Events and Upcoming Opportunities
The Ontario Transportation Expo (OTE) held in Toronto was a resounding success, providing valuable networking and learning opportunities for attendees. Looking ahead, we are excited about the upcoming OMCA Golf Tournament on August 26 in Niagara Falls, which promises to be both enjoyable and beneficial for networking
Additionally, preparations are underway for the OMCA Marketplace, scheduled for November 3–5, 2025. This event offers a unique platform for tour operators and tourism suppliers to connect through scheduled appointments, fostering business development across North America. Early registration from our buyers has been very strong, and registration is now open to all buyers and sellers. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so today. We expect to sell out!

AGM, Board and Councils
Last week, OMCA hosted our AGM with over 100 members registered. Congratulations to our newly elected and renewed Board of Directors and Council members! Your leadership is vital to our continued success. We thank all who serve and encourage members to get involved—your voice shapes our industry’s future. Stay connected, participate, and help drive meaningful change within our industry. OMCA’s Board of Directors will be meeting shortly to nominate our new executive committee. Once this committee is established, a notification will be sent out to all members.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Together, we are navigating challenges and seizing opportunities to strengthen our industry.
Sincerely,
Vince Accardi
