The Professional Instructor in Driver Education (P.R.I.D.E.) RECERTIFICATION Program is a joint venture of the Ontario Motor Coach Association (OMCA), Ontario Public Transit Association (OPTA) and Ontario School Bus Association (OSBA).
For 30 years, the P.R.I.D.E. Program has provided fleet driver instructors with powerful, non-lecture adult training techniques and philosophies that resonate with new and seasoned drivers to encourage and sustain safe commercial driving habits.
Unfortunately, it was necessary to cancel most of the 2020 P.R.I.D.E. programs. Extensive COVID-19 protocol has been implemented including moving the program to a larger facility (Holiday Inn Burlington) to ensure physical distancing of 2 meters can be maintained.
We are pleased to confirm that the P.R.I.D.E. program will resume as of March 2021. All COVID-19 safety/health measures will be in place including protocol for personal protective equipment (PPE), a health questionnaire, daily temperature checks, physical distancing and sanitizing the classroom, supplies and buses.
We will be rescheduling participants originally registered for the January and February 2021 programs. These programs were cancelled due to the Provincial state of emergency. If members plan to register a participant or participants not previously registered for the January and February programs, it would be appreciated if registration forms for the March, April and May programs could be submitted by Friday, February 26. This will allow us to determine if the demand for the program exceeds the current dates available. If that is the case, we will look at scheduling additional programs.
